Zach McCool
Assistant Coach
McCool, an All-Big Ten third baseman and four-year starter on the University of Iowa's baseball team, is in his first season as Cornell's infield/hitting coach.
McCool earned Third Team All-Big Ten honors as a junior while helping lead the Hawkeyes to a runner-up finish in the 2010 Big Ten Tournament. The Manchester native posted career totals of 132 hits, 20 doubles and 73 RBIs and made 153 starts at Iowa, where he set a single-season school record with 16 sacrifice bunts in 2011. McCool also holds school marks for hits (5) and triples (2) in a game. He was a three-time Academic All-Big Ten selection and received a bachelor's degree in Health and Sports Studies from Iowa in May 2011.
A standout athlete at West Delaware High School, McCool was selected to compete in senior all-star events in three sports: the Iowa High School Baseball All-Star Series, Shrine Bowl (football) and Border Brawl (wrestling). He was a first team all-stater in baseball and football, and won an individual state championship in wrestling. McCool was also academic all-state.
On the baseball diamond, McCool enjoyed a distinguished high school career in which he compiled a 19-1 pitching record and 1.71 ERA while hitting .427 with 182 hits, 39 doubles, 22 home runs and 99 RBIs. A three-time all-conference and all-district pick, McCool garnered first team all-state accolades in 2006 and 2007. McCool was tabbed to the 2007 Collegiate Baseball Preseason All-American list. In 2007 he captained West Delaware's Class 3A state championship team, the first baseball title in school history.
McCool ended his wrestling career second on the school's all-time wins list with a 150-18 record. He was a four-time state qualifier and two-time state finalist. McCool claimed a state title his senior season. In football, McCool earned all-district honors two years and named first team all-state at wide receiver in 2006. He helped guide West Delaware to the state championship game in 2005.
Upon graduation at Iowa, McCool started his coaching career at Diamond Dreams Baseball and Softball Academy in Coralville. During his time there, McCool has served as Director of Operations, Instructor and Equipment Manager. He also remains tied with the University of Iowa baseball program working numerous camps and clinics the past five years.

Jesse Searls
Assistant Coach
Searls, a 2011 Cornell graduate, is in his first season as an assistant on the Rams' baseball coaching staff.
Searls pitched and played second base as a three-year letterwinner on Cornell's baseball team. He made 50 starts in 61 career games, totaling 103 putouts and 113 assists. Searls appeared in 26 games on the mound, including 15 appearances during the 2010 season.
Searls is a native of Coralville and a 2007 graduate of Iowa City West High School. He earned a bachelor's degree from Cornell in elementary education.
Searls has also been an assistant on Cornell's women's basketball staff for four years.
